Stewardship - Faith in Action
Dear Friend(s),
Good Shepherd is on an amazing journey. We began with 38 members and a wooden building at North Main & Hunt. Construction on the Education Building began in 1956. The "Our Journey With Faith" renovation program led to new administrative offices and a new chancel. And today, the growth continues. Have you stopped in to see the changes in the church office? How do you picture the Good Shepherd of the future, and the role you will play?
This year's stewardship program will focus on our 2020 Vision by revisiting the three components of the Vision: Deepening Faith, Inspiring People, and Elevating Service. There was a stewardship article in both the September and the October Voice. Members' reflections on the positive impact Good Shepherd has on their lives have been included in the Cross Connections bulletin under the heading of "We Have Been Blessed."
These thoughts remind us that God has Generously Given To us. What will be the Generous Response From us? To help us visualize this year's theme, we have created the following logo:
In addition to the theme and the logo, there will be posters displaying images that help us contemplate ways to deepen our faith, gain inspiration, and elevate our service. The three Sundays prior to Commitment Sunday will involve an interactive stewardship emphasis with activities taking place before the sermon. On October 21st, we will have a skit that addresses Deepening Faith. On October 28th, come see the slide show that will Inspire People with pictures of members participating in numerous Good Shepherd events. November 4th will provide a chance to share "how you serve others at church and outside of church." As Romans 12:6-8 declares: "If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully."
Sunday, November 11th, is Commitment Sunday. In the week prior, you'll be receiving a second mailing which will include a commitment card. The Good Shepherd website will also have a link for an on-line pledge form, if that is your preference. You will have the choice to pledge using the commitment card or the on-line method.
We've all experienced the blessings God gives us through Good Shepherd. Think about the role you will play in the coming year. Generously Given To Us; Generous Response From Us.
Sincerely,
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
